Don Guanella Day (October 24th) is a very meaningful day of celebration for all of our Communities. We gather to celebrate the Eucharist at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Secane as well as to remember and honor our inspiring founder (Saint Luigi Guanella). The Mass was celebrated by several priests including Servant of Charity Father Dennis Weber, who has served the Don Guanella community for over 20 years, and Msgr. Richard Bolger, who was the main celebrant and homilist.
Since the church is very close to our Fatima Day Program the Mass was filled with staff, families and friends of those who attend these supportive daily programs. In his homily, Msgr Bolger looked out at everyone gathered and reminded us that we were all there because of the loving trust in Divine Providence of this one man, Don Guanella. He was a man who devoted his life to serving those with developmental disabilities who he called God’s “Good Children”. Through our mission and ministry we continue Don Guanella’ s legacy of compassionate care while enriching our own lives through this same trust in Divine Providence.
After Mass, all the attendees shared lunch in a large tent outside the Church. It truly was a celebration to remember!
