Named in honor of our patron, the Saint Luigi Guanella Legacy Society is comprised of individuals who have joined together to ensure the future of The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence by making a legacy, or planned gift.
Planned gifts often allow donors to make a larger gift than may be possible with an outright gift of cash. Planned gifts also may allow for substantial tax savings for donors or their heirs.
Below are a few easy ways you might consider in joining the Saint Luigi Guanella Legacy Society. Your legacy gift will help insure the future of The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence.
- If you are at least 70 1/2, you can give up to $100,000 from your IRA to charity without having to pay any taxes on the money transferred. This is called an IRA charitable rollover and it is a way of satisfying the required minimum distribution, making a gift to the Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence, and avoiding tax on the money you rollover.
- With the stock market at record highs, you might consider transferring appreciated securities to The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence. There is a double benefit in gifting appreciated stock in that you avoid capital gains taxes otherwise due on the appreciation, and also receive a tax deduction for a charitable gift.
- Many in our area have worked for corporations like Boeing or General Electric and have substantial stock interests that have appreciated substantially over the years.
- You can name The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence as a beneficiary on your life insurance, retirement plan, or other assets.
We encourage everyone who considers making a planned gift to speak with your financial planner first so that you fully understand the implications a gift would have for you individually. Then, please contact us.
The word, legacy, is often used to describe something that is handed down from one generation to the next. The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence have a faith filled spiritual legacy that was handed down to us by our founder Saint Luigi Guanella.
Don Guanella challenged the society of his time to accept individuals with intellectual disabilities as brothers and sisters and as blessings from God.
Individuals who make a planned gift to The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence establish their own legacy. It is a legacy that will secure the future of Don Guanella and Divine Providence for years to come, and allow us to continue to expand the complex range of services that “God’s Good Children” require and deserve well into the future.
